DonorsChoose.org was honored with a Silver Cause Marketing Halo Award in the Best Transactional Campaign Category at the 10th Anniversary Cause Marketing Forum Conference on May 31 in Chicago. A total of 18 awards were given out to programs judged to be among the best cause marketing campaigns of 2011.
The Silver Halo was awarded to our holiday partnership with Groupon and JPMorgan Chase which took place last November. The DonorsChoose.org Groupon was delivered at an 80% discount thanks to financial backing from JPMorgan Chase. Chase matched each purchase of a $10 gift card with an additional $40 – up to a total of $500,000 – giving each Groupon purchaser $50 to spend at DonorsChoose.org on the classroom project of their choice. Donors then received thank-you notes and photos from the classrooms they supported with their Groupon dollars.
We were thrilled by the success of this partnership – the Groupon sold out in less than 48 hours! Thanks to Groupon, Chase, and everyone who purchased the DonorsChoose.org Groupon deal, over 300,000 students received much-needed materials and experiences for learning.
